Cystathionine beta-lyase (CBL EC4.4.1.8) belongs to the class of lyases, which catalyzes the cleavage of cystathionine beta position, and produces homocysteine after removing pyruvate and NH3. This enzyme is used for the detection of homocysteine in the blood in enzyme cycling methodology.
